About the Academy
The Performing Arts Academy is a special program for students who are considering pursuing performing arts as a career, or for those who simply want to focus on their art. Students audition for entrance into the Academy, usually in the spring semester of the freshman year. Once accepted, they are enrolled in the Academy throughout their sophomore, junior and senior years. Academy students take a specific sequence of classes and must perform in their area of specialty. In general, students are required to take college preparatory academic classes and to enroll in two performing arts classes each semester. The required classes vary, depending on the student’s particular area of study.

Also, take a few moments to watch "Unity," a video which premiered at our 2007 Preview Night.
Commentary by the video's student editor:
"This video premiered at the opening of SkylineHigh School's 2007-08 Preview Night Concert in Oakland, CA. It was supposed to highlight this year's theme that the performing arts teachers chose - Unity.
In the video, you will see all the major aspects of Skyline's performing arts department at play (no pun intended) as we show what practice is like a couple of weeks before the concert and count down the days leading up to it: music, dance, technical theater, voice, drama, and featuring this year - film!
So sit back, kick your legs up on the sofa, and watch as Skyline's students astound you and empower you with what we can do...all through watching our film."
